Paul Sternberg, Jr., M.D. |
|
| Professor and Chief of Ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He is a respected vitreoretinal specialist with recognized expertise in age-related macula degeneration, retinopathy of prematurity and ocular trauma. Dr. Sternberg has made major contributions to the understanding of the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration, studying the role of oxidative stress in retinal pigment epithelial cell death and the protective effect of antioxidant systems. His numerous awards, include the Lew Wasserman Award of Merit from Research to Prevent Blindness and the Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He currently serves as Secretary of Communications for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Eye Institute. |

Roger F. Steinert, M.D. |
